Updated: Sep 30, 2025

We are about halfway through the fall sports season. Here's how the season is going so far!

Girls JV Volleyball

3 wins, 2 losses

With a new coach at the helm, the JV Volleyball team has had an impressive start to their inaugural season. In an exciting third set, 15-13 victory over Holy Family, Novi, the team earned their first ever win.

In his first season, Coach Vargas has helped the team learn how to serve with power and return balls consistently over the net.

We are thrilled with our JV Volleyball team and look forward to upcoming away games at Holy Family Novi, Gesu, and St. Williams.

Girls Varsity Volleyball

2 win, 3 losses

Coach Rakestraw returns this year committed to developing an excellent team. The girls are working harder than ever and are growing into a competitive team. Early in the season, for example, the suffered a loss to St. Francis Cabrini, but in a recent rematch at Cabrini, the Lions earned an impressive victory, sweeping Cabrini 3-0.

Holy Redeemer overcame early setbacks and have earned wins against two different divisional opponents for the first time in three years. The team now looks ready to challenge any opponent.

JV Soccer

4 wins, 2 losses

Holy Redeemer boasts another new coach with energy and enthusiasm. Coach Holway leads training sessions with top-notch drills and activities to develop the skills of these young players -- and it shows. While the first two matches ended in losses for the Lions, Coach Holway has secured three impressive victories with scores of 6-2, 6-2, and 5-2.

The JV Soccer team faced a good test this weekend at home against Sacred Heart. In an exciting match, the Lions pulled together to earn the win against a solid team. Right now, this team looks unstoppable.

Varsity Soccer

3 wins, 2 losses

In his third year of coaching at Holy Redeemer, Coach Jegier brings a determination to be the best soccer team in Detroit. He has increased the frequency and intensity of training session and holds his athletes to high standards. The boys on the team has matched this intensity and are working hard to develop their individual skills and become more coordinated as a team.

The team faced difficult opponents early on: Our Lady of Sorrows and Sacred Heart were well-organized, strong, and fast opponents. At this point in the season, however, the Lions look primed to defeat these teams in upcoming rematches on Wednesday Oct. 8 and Saturday Oct. 11.

Our full athletics calendar is available here. We would love to see you at our games!
