Proudest Teaching Moment

I was serving on a reservation teaching kindergarten. One of my kindergarten students had speech difficulties (ex. If he were to say the word "goggle" it would come out "doddu"). He did not receive many services before he came to the school I worked at. I began watching videos and researching how I could best serve him. After about three months of working together, he showed me how much progress he had made when a new SOLT Missionary Volunteer came to the cafeteria. Excited to see him, my student called out the volunteer’s name, “KYLE!” clearly using both the back of his throat and the front of his mouth to produce the sounds, a moment that showed just how far he had come.

Why do you love teaching at Holy Redeemer?

I love teaching at Holy Redeemer because of the hardworking students, faithful families, and the wonderful staff, who are also my friends. The community is kind, caring, patient, and joyful. Each day, I have the opportunity to grow in my faith alongside my students and colleagues, and I am grateful to witness God at work in our school.
